Robert Nesta “Bob” Marley was born on 6 February 1945 in Saint Ann Parish, Jamaica,, to his parents Cedella Booker and Norval Sinclair Marley.
He went to Stepney Primary and Junior High School. He was interested in music from a young age. He was known to be a Rastafarian.

In 1966, Bob Marley got married to Alpharita Constantia “Rita” Anderson. Together they had four children including Cedella, David “Ziggy,” and Stephen. He adopted two children of Anderson from her previous marriage. Marley is known to have a total of 11 children from various women.
In 1977, he developed a malignant melanoma which turned out to be cancer. He died on May 11, 1981, in Miami, Florida. He received a state funeral on May 21, 1981, in Jamaica.
