Neil Ellwood Peart was born on September 12, 1952, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. His father is Glen Peart, and his mother is Betty Peart. Neil Peart has two sisters and one brother, Nancy Peart and Judy Peart, and Danny Peart.
Neil Peart was grown and raised in several places but inside Ontario, and he studied at the Lakeport High School. First, he started taking piano courses and then went into drums. He took some drums lessons at the age of 13, bought a kit at the age of 14, and began taking classes at the Peninsula Conservatory of Music.

Neil Peart was first married to Jacqueline Taylor, but she died in 1998 because of tragic cancer. Neil’s daughter, Selena Taylor, was born in 1978, but she died in a car accident in Ontario in 1997.

Neil Peart made his early stage performances at his school along with a band that he formed at that time. He had a hard time trying to make a successful career there in Canada, so he decided to go to London and see how it goes there.
In London, Neil was 18 years old, he played for several bands and sold jewelry at a store. He couldn’t make it through a great professional musical career there and decided to go back to Canada when he worked with his dad.
Then, Neil joined the Hush band, and then in 1974, he joined Rush, where his professional musical career success started.
Neil Peart went with the band on its first tour in less than two weeks of the time he joined, they went on a United States tour, and it was great. Then, he started writing for them, next to touring all the time, and his first album with Rush was released in 1975, and it’s titled “Fly by Night,” and in the same year, they released “Caress of Steel” album. Neil Peart had a very hard time when his daughter died, and he told the band members he is retiring, he took some time off and then returned to the band. In 2015, Neil Peart announced that he is retiring as he got very old, having a few health issues.
