Charlie Daniels was born in Wilmington, North Carolina, the U.S., on October 28, 1936. He was raised on a musical diet from an early age that included Pentecostal gospel, local bluegrass bands, and the rhythm & blues and country music from Nashville’s 50000-watt radio stations WLAC and WSM(AM).
He used to play baseball in Wilmington. He moved to the small town of Gulf, Chatham County, North Carolina, when he was a teenager. He graduated from high school in the year 1955. By that time, he was already skilled on guitar, fiddle, banjo, and the mandolin. Soon after, he formed a rock ‘n’ roll band and hit the road.
