Career

Frankie started his music career at an early age, in the 1950s, he made his American network television debut in 1952 playing in the honeymooners on the Jacky Gleason’s show. He released some of his greatest hit songs early in his career, which include: Venus, Why, Just Ask Your Heart, I Will Wait For You, among others, most of his hits were written and produced by Bob Marcucci, who was the head of Chancellor Records.

He appeared in his first film Jamboree playing trumpet and singing teacher’s pet. He featured in more films such as; Rio Bravo (1959), Guns Of The Timberland (1960), he also provided the singing voice in the English version of a Japanese musical Anime, Alakazam The Great (1960). Frankie also sang the title song in the science fiction adventure film, Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea in 1961 and support role in Sail A Crooked Ship comedy.

In 1962, he appeared in a science fiction film Panic In Year Zero, and he also appeared in a tab hunter operation bikini in 1963 and drums of Africa the same year. Frankie also starred in a musical comedy beach party in 1963 with Annette Funicello, and it was directed by William Asher. He appeared in many other films such as; the Castilian, in 1963, Pajama Party In 1964, Beach Blanket Bingo in 1965.

He has also appeared in Tv episodes, including ABC’s The Bing Crosby Show and The Patty Duke show often appearing as the spokesperson for the sonic drive-in. Frankie later turned to market and created Frankie Avalon products, mainly health and cosmetic aids. He performed beauty school dropout in 2007 and stared in reality show grease; you are the one I want. He also performed on American idol in 2009.
