Larry Linville, whose full name is Lawrence Lavon Linville, was born on 29 September 1939 in Ojai, California, U.S. He was born to parents, Fay Pauline (formerly, Kennedy) and Harry Lavon Linville. He was raised in Sacramento, where he attended El Camino High School and graduated in 1957. He then went to study aeronautical engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder. He then applied for a scholarship at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, London, in 1959, which he attended until 1961.

Larry Linville has been married five times. He married American actress, Kate Geer in 1962. Kate gave birth to a daughter, Kelly Linville, in 1970. The marriage lasted for 13 years, and they got divorced in 1975. He then married actress, Vana Tribbey in 1977. The marriage lasted for five years, and they got divorced in 1982. He then married Melissa Gallant in the same year, but they got divorced three years later in 1985. He married Susan Hagan in 1986 but got divorced in 1992. His 5th and last marriage were with Deborah Guydon, which took place in the year of 1993. They remained married until Larry’s death on the 10th of April 2000.
He went through surgery in February of 1998 to remove a part of his lung after doctors discovered a tumour under his sternum. He received further treatment, but his health problems continued over the next two years.
