Early Life

Al was born on October 3, 1954, in Brownsville, Brooklyn, New York City to Ada (née Richards) and Alfred Charles Sharpton Sr. When Al was 4-years old, he preached his first sermon on his tour with gospel singer, Mahalia Jackson.
