Alison is the daughter of Canadian-born Hollywood manager Thor Arngrim and actress Norma MacMillan. Norma was a voice actress, and she had provided her voice for animations like Friendly Ghost, Underdog, and Davey and Goliath.
Alison has a brother by the name of Stefan, who was also a child actor, and he appeared on the science fiction series Land of the Giants. Alison once claimed that she was sexually molested by her brother for three years since she was nine years old.
