Muhammad Yunus was born on 28th June 1940 in Chattogram, Bangladesh. He was the third one of his nine siblings. He spent his best childhood in the village, and sooner in 1944 with his family, he moved to a city named Chittagong and completed his school at Lamabazar Primary School.
Later he passed an examination that was named Matriculation from Chittagong Collegiate school, and among 39000 students, he ranked 16th in East Pakistan. In his school years, he used to be a very active boy Scout. He traveled a lot as in 1952, to India and West Pakistan as well as in 1955 he also traveled to Canada to attend the famous Jamborees.
Being a talented prodigy, he became very active in other cultural activities, participated in drama with considerable interest, and was awarded prizes in drama. Sooner in 1957, Yunus enrolled at Dhaka University in the Department of Economics and completed his BA as well as MA from the same university from 1960 to 1961.
He was appointed as a lecturer in Economics at Chittagong College in the year 1961. In 1965, he received a scholarship named Fullbright to study in the United States. Therefore, he completed his Ph.D. in economics from the famous Vanderbilt University. After all this, he finally became an assistant professor of economics at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro.
