Al Jourgensen was born Alejandro Ramirez Casas on October 9, 1958 in Havana Cuba. He is the son to Gualberto Ramiro Casas and Margarita Brouwer. Jourgensen moved to the United States with his family when he was 3 years old. They mainly settled in Breckenridge, Colorado and Chicago.
His love for music developed when he was very young he was even a part of short-lived bands. He went to the University of Illinois Chicago. He also enrolled at both the University of Colorado and the University of Northern Colorado. After he had completed his education he worked as a radio DJ before he decided to professionally pursue music.

Jourgensen formed the band ministry in the year 1981 while he was in Chicago. The band received a lot of attention from the music industry especially because of their 1983 debut studio album called “With Sympathy”.
The other releases with the ministry in the 80’s were such as, The Land Rape and Honey and The Mind is a Terrible thing to Taste. Then in the 90’s Ministry’s fifth studio album called “Psalm69: The Way to Succeed and the Way to Suck Eggs” received mains stream success.
The following years he enjoyed publicity and success thought his career but he also began to be negatively affected by substance abuse. This duration he started to be depressed and his creative output was greatly affected.
Their sixth album “Filth Pig” was released in 1996 but it was immediate flop for it divided its fans leading to being dropped by the label Warner Bros Records in the year 2001. From 2006-2007 Ministry released Rio Grande Blood, The Last Sucker, Revolting Cocks from their new record label.
Then Jourgensen established “13th Planet Records” which is his own record label where even Ministry recorded several records.
In 2013 Jourgensen released his autobiography titled “Ministry: The Lost Gospels According to Al Jourgensen.
Jourgensen has worked in team as a music producer together with his Ministry band mate Paul Barker which was called the Hypoluxa and Hermes Pan. They have produced their own music as well as well as other Wax Trax Records Acts.
