Both his parents were from Puerto Rico who later moved to the USA and settles in New York City. Elizondo was raised in Upper West Side and he had a talent for music and sports from a young age.
At age 10, Elizondo sang for the choir Frank Murray Boys. In another school, he excelled in baseball and basketball. After completing junior high school, he went to High School of the Performing Arts.
Later, Elizondo attended City College of New York to become a history teacher. However, he dropped out of college during his freshman year to support his family. Elizondo studied acting at Stella Adler Theatre Studio and dance as the Balle Arts Company.
