Amy Klobuchar was born on 25 May 1960 in Plymouth, Minnesota, USA. Klobuchar’s mother Rose retired at age 70 from teaching second grade, and her father Jim Klobuchar was an author and also a retired sportswriter and columnist for the Star Tribune. Klobuchar has a younger sister, Beth.
Klobuchar’s grandparents were immigrants from Slovenia’s White Carniola region, and her maternal grandparents were from Switzerland. Klobuchar was 15 years old and in high school when her parents got divorced.

Klobuchar began her career as a corporate lawyer.
