Arsène Wenger, whose full name is Arsène Charles Ernest Wenger, was born on the 22nd of October 1949 in Strasbourg, Alsace, France to parents, Alphonse and Louise Wenger. He has two siblings as well. His parents owned and ran an automobile spare parts business. He has studied at a school in Obernai.
He had also worked in the army and has fought on the Eastern Front in October of 1944 when he was 24 years of age. Coming to his education, he has attended a three-week language course at Cambridge. Also, he has studied for his coaching badge at the Centre de Ressources, d’expertise et de Performance Sportives (CREPS) in Strasbourg. He received his manager’s diploma in Paris in 1981.

Arsène Wenger began his career for FC Duttlenheim in 1963. He played for the club for the next six years. In 1969, he began playing for Mutzig, and he played for the club for the next four years. In 1973, he began playing for Mulhouse. In 1975, he then joined the club ASPV Strasbourg and played for them for the next three years. For the period between 1978 and 1981, he was with the senior team of Strasbourg, though his last appearance for the team came in 1979.
He then got involved with the running of RC Strasbourg’s reserve and youth team for the next two years. He began his managerial career in 1983 when he joined the club, Cannes as Jean-Marc Guillou’s assistant. For the period between 1984 and 1987, he worked for the club, Nancy. In 1987, he joined the club, Monaco. In his debut season for Monaco, the team went on to win the league. He worked for Monaco the following years till 1995 when he joined Nagoya Grampus Eight.
The team was quite successful under his management, and in the same year, he won the J. League Manager of the Year award. In 1996, the team won the Emperor’s Cup. In 1996, he joined Arsenal, and a couple of years later, the team went on to win the Premier League and FA Cup double.
