Dallas Cowboys is a famous football team which is based in Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. It professionally competes in the NFL (National Football League) and is a member of the NFC (National Football Conference) East division. The headquarters of the team is located in Frisco, Texas, and its home ground in Arlington, Texas’s AT&T Stadium. It has been a member of the NFL since 1960.

Early Life

Before the formation of Dallas Cowboys, there was no team from the south. In 1952, the Dallas Texans got folded. Clint Murchison Jr. tried to get Dallas in the team of NFL, but Washington Redskins’ owner George Preston Marshall maintained his monopoly.

In the 1970s, the Cowboys were able to win a total of 105 games in the regular season. They also appeared in the finals of five Super Bowls and won it twice. In 1980, the team named Danny White as its quarterback. In 1981, they were the second-seeded team in the NFL playoffs. It was another year of winning a division championship for the team.

In 1984, Dallas Cowboys was bought by H.R. “Bum” Bright. They struggled in the late ‘80s, and in 1989, the team was bought by Jerry Jones. After taking the team, Jones fired the head coach Tom Landry. They finished the 1989 season with a record of 1 – 15.

The new owner soon filled the team with players like Daryl Johnston, Mark Stepnoski, Russell Maryland, Emmitt Smith, and Erik Williams. In the early 1990s, he added young players like Charles Haley, Jay Novacek, Ken Norton Jr., Jim Jeffcoat, Michael Irvin, and Nate Newton.

In 1991, Dallas Cowboys finished the season with a record of 38-6. At the Super Bowl XXVII, the team defeated Buffalo Bills. They again became the winner of Super Bowl XXVIII by starting with 0-2 against Buffalo Bills. Following that, Barry Switzer was named as the new coach of Dallas, Texas.

Their fifth Super Bowl Championship came at Super Bowl XXX when they defeated Pittsburgh Steelers with a score of 27 – 17. For the 2000 season, Dave Campo was named as the head coach of the team.

Both 2000 and 2001 was a tough year for the team. They finished the 2005 season in third place. In 2009, their practice facility got collapsed due to a wind storm. In 2012, they defeated the reigning Super Bowl champions New York Giants.

In 2014, Dallas Cowboys finished the season with 4 – 12. In 2016, the club named two rookies in the Pro Bowl. They finished the 2017 season, with a record of 9-7.

Dallas Cowboys has won the Super Bowl five times. They have won it in 1975, 1977, 1992, 1993, and 1995. They have also won five League Championships and have twice won the NFL Eastern.
