Early Life

Dave Foley was born in Ontario, Canada on January 23, 1963, to Mary, and Michael. Michael was a steamfitter, while Mary was a homemaker. His birth name was David Scott Foley. Dave recalls that his family was quite fond of television, especially comedy shows. “Dick van Dyke” was Dave’s favourite show as a child.

He was extremely shy in his childhood, which is why his parents never thought of him as an aspiring comedian and actor. He would often run away when faced with the camera, according to his mother. The greatly talented comedian remained hidden in Dave’s introverted shell until the time he wrote a comedic story for a school assignment, which was applauded by friends and teachers alike.

He regularly skipped his school, which led his parents to put him in Toronto Alternative High School, which specialised in tackling intelligent, but struggling students. However, in 1980, he dropped out of high school to become a standup comedian.

In 1991, Dave Foley married Tabitha Southey, and the couple went on to have two children, Basil and Ned. The couple parted ways in 1997. He got married again to Crissy Guerrero in 2001 and had a daughter, Alina with her, before heading for divorce in 2008.
