David Duval was born on 9th November 1971 in Jacksonville, Florida, to a professional golfer Bob Duval and Diane Poole Duval.as a child, David Duval’s father was a professional golfer and a member at Timuquana country club where he taught and David on how to play golf. At the tender age of 9, David donated his bone marrow to his brother by the name Brent Duval who had been diagnosed with aplastic anemia.

Still, unfortunately, it was not as successful as the brother later died as a result of sepsis. Brent’s death was very hard on the family so much that David’s father Bob left him alone with his mother for one year.  During this whole year, David was not able to play golf. He later resumed playing golf a year later when his father returned and started training him again.

Before his current relationship with Susan Persichitte, David was dating his long-term girlfriend of 8 years, Julie Mc Arthur. They split in the year 2002. He later met Susan at Denver restaurant in August 2003 while he was in town for an international tournament. They subsequently engaged in November of the same year and then married in 2004. The couple has been blessed with two children by the name Brayden Duval who was born in 2005 and Sienna Duval, who was born in 2008.

David is also a stepfather to three of Susan’s children from her previous relationship by the names: Deano, Nick, and Shalene. The family lives together in Cherry Hills Village in Colorado. David was also widely known as one of the few registered democrats on the PGA Tour during his career.

Career

David started his amateur career while he was still in high school. In 1989 he graduated from Episcopal High School, and in the same year, he was also named the US Junior Amateur Champion. After high school, he joined the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Men’s Golf team, where he continued with his Amateur Career.

While in the Georgia Tech team, he was named two times ACC Player of the year and Four times first team all American. David became a pro in 1993, and this led him to be named The National Player of the year. These achievements made him earn a PGA Tour Card in 1995. David later qualified for the 1996 President Cup Team, where he posted an outstanding record of 4-0-0.

The PGA Tour Victory evaded David until October 1997, where he won The Michelob Championship, and still, in the same year, he won the other two Championships. He later led the PGA money list in 1998 and was second on the list in 1997 and 1999, respectively. In 2000 and 2001, he was ranked 7th and eighth in the PGA money list, respectively.

David won 13 PGA tournaments between 1997 and 2001. The most memorable win was in 1999 when both David Duval and his father Bob Duval won tour events on the same day. David won The Players Championship while his father won The Champions Tour Emerald Coast Classic.

In 2002, David was ranked 80th on the PGA Tour money list and 211th in the following year, and this led him to drop the PGA Tour. He later returned in 2004 at The U.S. Open but still performed very poorly due to his back pains, and this made him lose confidence.

In 2009, he made his comeback, whereby he completed second at the 2009 U.S. Open and also finished second the following year at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. This gained him a lot of money enough to keep his PGA Tour Card, but by 2014 he had lost his PGA membership.
