Dulce was born on December 6, 1985. She was born in Mexico City and grew up with her two siblings. Interestingly, she is the great-niece of the famous Frida Kahlo. When Dulce was five years old, she started appearing in television commercials.
When she was 8, she was offered a role in Plaza Sesamo in 1993. She was cast for both the live-action and the animated version of the show.

After that, her ex-boyfriend (who was a part of the music group too) decided to create their group named D&D. After recording five songs, the group split up.
When María was 15 years old, she joined the Latin pop group named Jeans. Again, she left the group in 2002 and instead decided to play the role of Marcela Mejía in Clase 406.
