The son of Robin and Monte Kiffin, Lane was born on May 9, 1975. He was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, and has a sister named Heidi Kiffin. His younger brother Chris Kiffin is also a football player and has played for Colorado State.
He went to Bloomington Jefferson High in Minnesota’s Bloomington in 1994 and used to play baseball, basketball, and football. After completing his graduation, Lane used to work as a graduate assistant for Colorado State University. Following that, he became a quality control assistant of Jacksonville Jaguars.
