Lee Trevino was born on 1 December 1939 in the city of Dallas, Texas, to a family that belonged to Mexico. He was born to a single mother, Juanita Trevino. He was mostly raised by his mother only, along with his grandfather Joe Trevino. His grandfather worked as a gravedigger in the same city. Lee was indulged in making money in his childhood only because he saw his family’s hardship. When he was only five years old, he started working at the nearby cotton field and earned money for his mother and grandfather.
He was introduced to golf when his uncle bought him a pair of golf balls and an old gold club. He became addicted to the sport and used to visit the nearby clubs to compete in tournaments. He soon became a member of the Dallas Athletic Club. When Lee was only 17 years old, he was enlisted into the United States Marine Corps and worked for the government for four years.
