  1. I watched the series and couldn’t see where anyone thought he was guilty. Why wasn’t DNA collected on his wife’s clothing and his also ?? Why was evidence handled in such a manner ?? As for calling him another criminal seems to me that the Durham Police dept. wanted a suspect and put it on his shoulders………………….. So how do you call Mr. Petersen a criminal when the investigators didn’t find finger prints or anything associated with the said person?? Whomever said he was perhaps should do some investigating themselves.. What a crock of S@#$

    • I agree , but I think that the whole thing is about the police department / so called detectives because they were so ignorant in my personal opinion a bunch of crooked fame seeking morons ! They done absolutely nothing right from the beginning ! Like after seeing the blow poke & taking pictures with it in their hands & then hiding it that made me furious ! The only person that was honest & had any sense was the judge he seemed to be a good man . Anyway , it’s just sickening the way that they showed the massive amount of corruption & just how badly that the system is broken !

  2. I don’t accept that the judge was fair. He became well aware of the corruption and ultimately he could have dismissed the charges. An absolute miscarriage of justice. Very very sad for him and his family.

  3. When the government wants to find u guilty,it’s pretty hard to beat them ,I would’ve never voted guilty.it’s seems like your guilty, till proven innocent.things r sure backwards can u imagine if he didn’t have money, for regular working people who get jammed up even if your innocent your going to jail DA has unlimited budget to put u in jail and all’s they care about is their conviction rate

  4. Article here misstates some facts as well as botching timelines. But, on another note, folks who hate cops and judges and ‘the system’ are likely to claim Mike Peterson is innocent and a ‘victim’. Others who recognize humanity’s potential for deceit and worse, look at photos of a woman who was beat to death, and draw conclusions. Personally, I don’t think the murder was planned. Just because Peterson deleted hundreds of emails the day before and a couple days after the murder, doesn’t necessarily equate to ‘premeditation’. I think he got caught, by his now-dead wife, with ‘his hands in other men’s pants’ so to speak, and that together with a financially reckless lifestyle of him and his various kids, imposed upon the one steady earner- the now-dead wife’, may have brought thins to a head, where his lifestyle was about to be ripped away. She may have threatened the old man, with exposure of his GAYness, and financial ruin…. somewhere he and his family were taking the now-dead accomplished wife- THE main provider, who witnessed a life’s work being chucked down the drain by those she was supporting. but that’s just me…..

    • I watch the series The Staircase. What has deleting emails got to do with murder? I delete personal emails everyday, if some close to me dies and somehow I am suspected. What has me deleting my emails got to do with murder? No guilty person can remain the same for more than 15 years. This case demonstrate the evil in the so called justice system. The system will do whatever it takes to get a conviction. They do not care. They will do it to anyone. Michael Peterson was treated unfairly, no one knows this better than the judge.

  5. Anyone with a functioning brainstem knows this guy is guilty—he lucked out with the incompetent investigation. Stop overthinking it—his wife is found in a huge bloody mess at the bottom of the stairs with gashes on her head and it’s the SECOND woman he has found dead at the bottom of stairs.

This is a great study of how money gives you a HUGE advantage in the justice system. Switch the prosecution and defense teams and the jury would’ve deliberated less than a day and found him guilty. The Staircase was entertaining but also keep in mind Peterson was in a relationship with one of the filmmakers and requested the documentary be made—it’s biased.

  6. I love armchair detectives who think they have a grasp on a case that real detectives put thousands of hours in investigations and interviews. If you didn’t work the case you don’t have a valid opinion one way or the other.

  7. He did it. The fact that she divorced her 1st husband for cheating and this guy was having gay affairs is motive. I do not care what any of his friends say. He lied about numerous facts of his life. He was there either alone with her or with a boyfriend. Either way it was him. Use your common sense.

  8. Women don’t just fall down stairs and bleed to death! Her husband was the only person there. Someone has to stand up for the victim because she can’t speak for herself! I think she would be horrified to see her children didn’t stand up for her….oh my gosh they could never understand what kind of person he was!Even his attorney said it wasn’t about whether he was guilty or not, but rather whether the State could prove beyond a reasonable doubt!
