Early Life
Born on 24, August 1966 to economist Geoffrey and Marika Denton, Nick grew up in Hampstead. His mother fled from Nazi clutches in Hungary and eventually died of cancer before her son moved to the United States. Nick has a sister, Rebecca.
Denton’s schooling took place in University College School and then he went on to study at University College, Oxford where he was a student of Politics, Philosophy and Economics. At the time he was also made the editor of the University’s magazine.
He married African American actor Derrence Washington in 2014, after dating him for almost a year. Their marriage took place in the Hayden Planetarium, located inside the American Museum of Natural History.

He and Elizabeth Spiers were the founders of Gawker Media. In its initial days in 2002 Denton worked out of his flat in SoHo. Their company initially started two websites, Gawker and Gizmodo.
The company grew steadily, and in 2008, it had become so big that they needed to move its official headquarters to New York City.
In 2015, Gawker media expanded to include more websites, including Deadspin and Jezebel. Denton had over 250 employees at the time.
