Noam Chomsky (born as Avram Noam Chomsky) graced the world on December 7, 1928. His hometown was Philadelphia, in Pennsylvania, and his neighborhood was East Oak Lane. His father was an Ashkenazi Jew, who left Ukraine and settled down in the United States of America and was a professor at Gratz College, a college in Philadelphia. However, he was brought back into the academic line after talking to Zellig Harris, a Russian linguist. Chomsky majored in theoretical linguistics. He completed his doctoral dissertation from Harvard University.
