Peter Kenneth Frampton was born to Owen and Peggy in Beckenham, Kent, UK. Owen Frampton, his father, was a teacher and the head of the Art department of the school Bromley Technical High School at which Frampton used to study at an early age. When he was seven, he first became interested in music.

He later teaches himself how to play guitar and piano. He began taking classical music lessons when he was at the age of eight. Cliff Richard and the Shadows and American rockers Buddy Holly and Eddie Cochran and later the Ventures, Jimi Hendrix, and the Beatles influenced him a lot in his early life. He was introduced to the recordings of Belgian gypsy jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt, by his father.

Frampton played in the band The Little Ravens. At Bromley Technical School, David Bowie, who was three years old and Frampton, played in a band called the Little Ravens. When he was 14, he was playing with a band called the Trubeats, followed by a band called the Preachers, produced and managed by Bill Wyman of the Rolling Stones.

In 1966, he became a successful child singer as well as he became a member of The Herd. By teen magazine Rave, Frampton was named “The Face of 1968”.  In 1969, he joined with Steve Marriott of Small Faces to form Humble Pie, when he was just 18 years old. His own debut was 1972’s Wind Of Change with guest artists Ringo Starr and Billy Preston. He later released Somethin’s Happening.

In early January, Frampton Comes Alive was released, debuting on the charts on 14 February at number 191. For 97 weeks, the album was on the Billboard 200, of which 55 were in the top 40, of which ten were at the top. This album beat among others, Fleetwood Mac’s Fleetwood Mac, to become the top-selling album of 1976, and it was also the 14th best seller of 1977.

He was put on the cover of Rolling Stone after the success of Frampton Comes Alive! He received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his contributions to the recording industry at 6819 Hollywood Boulevard on 24 August 1979.
