The family moved to Washington County, North Carolina, to participate in the desegregation of the public school system where his mother worked as a secretary and an office manager while his father worked as a physics teacher.

At the age of 15 years old, he was elected as the president of the local NAACP youth council in 1978. Two years later, he became the student body president of his high school. He then went to North Carolina Central University (NCCU), where he became the student government president at the age of 19. He received his bachelor’s degree in Political science from NCCU. He has received a Master of Divinity degree from Duke University and also a doctorate from the same university with a concentration in public policy and pastoral care.

  1. This profile does not mention that Reverend Barber was named a MacArthur Fellow (the so-called “genius grants”) in 2018. That recognition is important, not only for its recognition of his service, but also for how it affected his wealth.

I think I would be motivated if I had earned £2M……..another ten years and that will have doubled….I find it laughable and impossible to accept morality from someone spouting religion and equality from somone who makes a lot of money from just that ….evidence shows Politics and relegion should not mix…………………….My last word…..God never said a single word that comes out of the mouths of any so called believers and advocates……………..so I find it ridiculous people are so willing to give these self motivated people perporting to spread “God’s word”any credence.
