Early Life
Ritchie Blackmore was born on 14 April 1945, in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, to his parents Lewis J. Blackmore and Violet. When Blackmore was two years of age, his family moved to Heston, Middlesex. His father gifted him his first guitar at the age of 11.
When he was young, he wanted to be like Tommy Steele because he used to jump around and play. While he was in school, he participated in various sporting events, including javelin throw. Blackmore disliked his school and teachers and hence left his school at the age of 15 to work as a radio mechanic at the Heathrow Airport.
