  1. It’s a bit misleading to state that after Jeff (Porcaro) died, the band was without a lead singer. It implies that Jeff was the lead singer. Jeff was the drummer.

Lukather currently has a girlfriend named Amber Thayer. She was married to KISS guitarist Tommy Thayer.

  2. Luke, is by far my favorite musician. He can play fusion, progressive jazz, progressive rock, hard rock, pop rock and blues. His ballads are also great along with his voice.

  3. Wouldn’t it be nice to have one of Steve’s guitars? Well, ladies and gentlemen, I have his 1998 Music Man Luke Blue Luke I, there is now the 4th version of the Ernie Ball Music Man Luke guitar. I obtained the guitar through Gavin Menzies Estate sale (One of Steve’s Techs) and Steve signed it for me in LA in 2006. This past February 27th, making up the Dogs of Oz Tour postponed due to COVID, I took the guitar to Charleston, SC, our previous home, and he and the band signed it for me during soundcheck.

I was the biggest Doobie Brothers fan my friends have ever known, so they say, but, after hearing TOTO 1, in 1978 in college, I’m 1.5 years younger, I became the quintessential TOTO fan. I love performing their/his songs and figuring out the new ones. I’m listening to 35th Live in Poland at this minute and took a break from playing. Just looking up some bio on his life.

Critics in America gave them a bad rap for years, yes, the word critic comes from the word critical, and if your critical about TOTO and their legacy and future then you are not just critical, just plain stupid and woefully misinformed! I had front seats to all three North Carolina and South Carolina concerts this year. And center front for the Charlotte concert April 24, 2024. And “The Road Goes On”!!!

    • I don’t understand why the rock and roll hall of shame has forgotten about Toto and and all the
great musicians who have made up the band. Steve Lukather is without doubt one of the best
guitarists who graced the music scene in the mid-70″s . Go figure this one out!!
