The Duffer Brothers were born in Durham, North Carolina, the United States, on 15 February 1984. They commenced their learning at the Duke School for children up to grade 8. After the eighth grade, they enrolled at Charles E. Jordan High School in Durham. The duo then relocated to Orange, California, in order to study film and the joined the Dodge College of Films and Media Arts. The college was at Chapman University, and they graduated from college in 2007.
Inception
Ross and Matt Duffer began making films while they were in the third grade and where they used a Hi8 video camera that they had gotten from their parents as a gift. Their passion for films is the one that drove them to take film and media arts as a major at the University.
After completing their studies, the brothers wrote and also directed several short films, and it was at this time that their script for the horror film Hidden was noticed and acquired by Warner Bros. Pictures. They were given an opportunity to direct this film in 2012, and the movie was finally released in 2015. It was still around this time that director M. Night Shymalan read the script of their film, and he ended up giving the brothers a job as writer/producers of the series Wayward Pines on FOX Television.
