Early Life
U2 was mainly found by Larry Mullen Jr. when he was at the Mount Temple Comprehensive School. He asked for musicians to join him by that time, and the popular members who joined are known as Bono, The Edge, Dik Evans, and Adam Clayton.
There are other members that briefly joined the band, and their names are Peter Martin and Ivan McCormick. U2 was first named “The Larry Mullen Band” for a few minutes, and they decided on “Feedback” as their name. They performed at the St. Fintan’s High School in Sutton, Dublin, before changing their name to “The Hype.” The band lastly changed its name to “U2” in 1978.
After renaming the band and settling on “U2”, they went to win a competition for talents that were located in Limerick city. The competition was huge back then because it was sponsored by Evening Press newspaper and Harp Lager. The band’s debut release was an EP album with three songs only named “Three,” which peaked at 19 on the Irish Singles Chart. U2 started experiencing and exploring more fame and success with their debut studio album “Boy,” which was released in 1980. The album peaked at 12, 52, and 63 on the Canadian Albums Chart, UK albums chart, and the Billboard 200 chart.
U2 gained more international commercial success with their 3rd studio album “War.” The album was a hit in many countries, and it peaked at one on the UK albums chart, 12 on the US albums chart, and at four on the Canadian albums chart.
U2 released their latest album by the end of 2017 titled “Songs of Experience” at it peaked at one on several countries charts including the Belgian Albums chart, Canadian Albums chart, Dutch Albums Chart, Irish Albums chart and others making it one of their most successful album of all time.
